a.) this is important to know because the title of my movie is VERY similar. The Pursuit of Happyness. It relates to the fact that he is trying to find his happiness through working hard to take care of his son.

b.) i think its kind of puzzling that the interviewer and the guest is talking about what and why the pursuit of happiness is in the declaration of independence not what people like us perceive at.

c.) i didn’t think it was that surprising because i learned something about it before.

d.) i feel like everyone connect in some way. everyone has their personal dream and goal and when one reaches that goal they can feel happy about it.

This interview with the host and the professor basically is telling us how and what we see in the constitution. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is what we live by and without it, life would be hard in America. Professor Pauline Maier talks about the origination of that constitution and what impact it has on the citizens of the US. Also , its interesting to see how people actually don’t really realize that this constitution is always in use because everything we do we are thriving ourselves to reach the main goal so when we do succeed, makes you feel good. its like getting a 98 on your final or something. you feel really good about it. i’m pretty sure i’m not going to be able to get that kind of grade in college but it would definitely be nice.

The Pursuit of Happyness November 10, 2009

I chose “The Pursuit of Happyness” because it just blows my mind of how one man is giving it his all to survive in this unfair world we live in. He shows how anything is possible if you just commit and put forth the effort to succeed.  One thing i would like to inquire relating the theme to this movie is how one can be so eager and committed to live through suffering. it may be that this question is a little too specific about what i’m trying to get at but i will make it more broad and clear so i, myself, can have a better focusing question to work with. what I’m trying to get at is that committing oneself is difficult and frustrating at times. At least for me, i have a hard time acting to my words. There’s the saying, “easier said than done” and this is very true for the most part. and sometimes making promises should be thought over carefully before declaring. Will smith plays the role of a hard-working, passionate father doing everything possible for the future of his son. Earning low money, his wife leaves him and is left with his son. Walking miles and miles to work and catching subways only if he had enough money, he just never gave up. As he comes across a nice car, he makes a humorous remark about the car. The owner of that car said something like “yea its a beauty”. Will asks him what he does to be able to afford such car. He said he was a broker of some sort. and the story continues on. i loved the movie and it moved me so much and how appreciative i am of having parents that have the willpower and dedication for me.

i think this documentary was very interesting. it showed me the true american government and how they treat the ones in need unfairly. Michael moore’s side of the arguement is essentially based on the fact that people like me who have the privlage to have health insurance should be thankful. the government deos a horrible job in securing the citzens. He showed that its not fair for one in need to not have the chance to live a life of goodness and even live because of another’s ill-morals. I learned that to help someone with the right attitude and morals means to sacrifice and just forget about whats happening and do whats right. i feel soo much pity for those without health insurance. like the one wife of Tracy who had kidney cancer that was rejected for treatment because of maybe race or other factor’s that were very minor and as a result take a life away from those who loved him. And moore does a good job with impactin me with what he gives me in the documentary. he literally takes himself with the camera and films his experience with the issue. he goes to france, london, all over the states to prove his point. also, for the audience to think about the matter in hand, he uses rhetorical questions. these questions fill our minds and we take our time to ask ousleves if this is what america is truely is. if this documentary was written as an essay, i think that the arguement would not change but would not be as effective. so much socializing is involved and to have the gragrious tone in an essay makes it souund not only unprofessional but also the affection of it would not be as strong as a film. Films shows and you can see and know for sure that there is evidence for his side of the arguement but writing takes away that assurance and give you doubts when reading something written. its probably different for everybody but for me, i think seeing is believing but i can’t always live with that.

So basically “Micheal Moore’s Farenheit 9/11: How One Film Divided a Nation” is about a movie Farenheit 9/11 and how Micahel Moore’s films were understated of its value. Critcs tried ti find the flaws in his film because the y couldn’t find the main theme and how that theme relates to life. the message being delivered obviously was not the pinpoint eye catcher since the critics condemned him for his lack of cinematic technique. it adds that the film itself had a huge impact on the world since during the bush election, he showed the controversy of how The iraqi war influenced teh citizen with the election.

Blog Post #2- Transformers 2 trailer October 9, 2009

Transformers 2:Revenge of Fallen was something i wanted to see no matter what because the first was amazing and knowing that there will be a second one made me stoked! so already i had the desire and wanting to see it. so the trailer was actually intriguing to see. it was comical in a way. you have shia labeouf trying to tell bumble bee something about college and bumble, out of joy, says he’s excited. but, he couldn’t go. so the music stopped awkwardly but comically. it uses the subjective camera technique going from Sam’s house to the college. its subjective because sam talks about college and the next thing you know, its an actual college. but anyways, i get this feeling that something awesome is going to be in the movie. and what do you know!? a nice sexy shot of megan fox appears showing a little somethin on a chopper! but thats only half of the reason for seeing the movie. as the optimistic feel of the trailer passes by, a sudden change of atmosphere comes to notice. sam drops a tiny pebble like rock on the floor and the music changes to a suspenseful, not-knowing-whats-going-to-happen feeling. so then this is when the plot is being shown. i was getting into the plot because it was about something that struck sam and how he is seeing things. on top of that, the reason for these strange things he sees is to lead us into a brief history lesson if you will about what and where these symbols sam is seeing is coming from. its ineterestin because history is something i much enjoy! and lastly the amount of action already being shown gives me the slight edge to see it even more. explosions, screaming, cool robots, etc. overall, the commercail has grabbed me one, through megan fox and two, the follow up of the trailers purpose.

Well, i like commercials where you can recieve a good laugh. it had good visual effects in relation to the subtitling involved in the commercial. Also, the music played throughout is very amusing. The music was mooded in a romantic feel but as you see the plot of the commercial, it shows how the two lovebirds don’t really fit with the tone of the music. So this commercial i found is one in particular very funny in an ironic way. Its the 2007 Doritos commercial. So you have this guy driving a car with a bag of doritos in his hand. He sees a hott looking chick, well a decent one at least, walking along the sidewalk and is also in possession of Doritos. He gives a good stare at her and in return she looks at him. Then it pauses the scene and you see a subtitle that reads, “spicy”. Now this “spicy” represents who or what it describes and logically i would assume that the girl is the spicy one, not the dorito. Then the guy driving smiles a big smile at her and again it pauses subtitling “cheesy” stating that the guy was really cheesy in giving the not so cool smile at the girl and simultaneously describing the cheesy flavor of the dorito. so the he stares for a good 2 secs. and BOOM! He crashes into the car in front of him. As he face plants on his bag of doritos, it again pauses with “crunchy” subtitled above him. I guessing that the bag of doritos kind of aided him as an airbag but then “crunchy” comes into play as it is describing the crunchiness of doritos. So the girl makes her “bold” move running towards the collision, almost getting ran over by an oncoming car. She tried to make it “smooth?” as if she was a hero. Consequently, she trips and bangs her head against the car. They look at each other as if they were struck by a lightning of love! So in general, this commercial used the irony of what was expected to happen but doesn’t. This commercial does a well done job of plotting the whole thing since there is that twist in the plot, something unexpected happens. In a way, this commercial didn’t really talk about the product but instead was in the picture of a scenario. It was, however, obvious that the dorito was the product being advertised. Wanting to add to this, i thought that the lighting was interestingly noticable after watching it a few times. You can see that the colors around the red dorito bag was very distinguished and therefore was easy to spot the dorito. Maybe thats the reason it was soo obvious.
